The team is very happy to receive a ‘Go’ decision from the competition organisers after having reviewed our Deliverable 3 (D3) submission.

The D3 is the final deliverable which teams seeking to enter the challenge must submit, so we are now all set to go to Kingaroy, Queensland to compete at the end of September.

The requirements for the D3 were:

  • Flight log showing a minimum of 5 hours of autonomous flight;
  • A GPS log-file of a flight of a least 30 minutes duration;
  • Details of aircraft characteristics and flight performance; and
  • Details of radio transmitter and compliance to regulations.

From the 116 teams that originally registered for the competition in July last year, 20 teams have made it through to the D3. This will be the busiest year yet!
