I visited Electrikhana, an expo for electric cars and electric bikes.

The expo was a lot of fun, and I was able to catch up with a lot of the usual crowd that gets involved in these type of things.

It was interesting to see, and test ride the latest Tesla Model S electric car. This has an 85 kWh lithium-ion battery pack built into its chassis, which can keep the car going for up to 500km. The batteries are the same type used in our UAV. Talking to the owners they were very impressed with its performance, and usually charging it every other night when parked in their garage.

I chatted to the owner of the Fonzarelli electric scooter company. It was amazing talking to her to hear about how she used the resources available from her family bus manufacturing company to develop an electric scooter to fit her needs, and then successfully produce and market this throughout Australia. I took it for a quick spin which was quite fun.

The owner of a Zero electric bike was also generous enough to let me take it for a test ride on the track. The bike was extremely powerful, and the heavy weight of the batteries at the front kept it firmly on the ground. It was also extremely quiet.
